Pokemon Pearl: a summary of so far...

Previously I was blogging on my forum, now I've decided to move that here. I will mostly be talking about my Pokemon games, mostly because I seem to need an exit for everything I want to say; as I'm fairly sure my family is getting a little tired of it by now, even though they're so kind and patient. For now I will talk about Pokemon Pearl.

So I already had Diamond, and had no plans to get Pearl. However, a Deoxys event at Gamestop quickly changed my mind. After all, two Deoxys? Who could resist? I also noticed my PC on Diamond was becoming a little...er...crowded. The final reason was I wanted a game I could restart lots of times, and use to get some shiny legendaries and starters.

That's how it all began. I've had it for about a week now. I gave up on the idea of getting a shiny starter, partially because I came across a female Impish turtwig, exactly the nature I had been looking for. I love girl Pokemon above all, maybe it's just because I feel like they deserve their chance in the sunlight instead of being used for breeding. Sure, sure, male Pokemon can pass on whatever rare TMs they learned while being trained for top quality, but I find that a fairly useless trait since it's unlikely I'll ever use it to it's full potential.

After a small panic attack over the realization that the location of the Mystery Gift isn't obtainable by simply getting the Poketch, I researched and found out that it was necessary to defeat the Galactic Grunts harassing Prof. Rowan after obtaining the first gym badge in order to get access to Jubilife TV. This forced me to reluctantly change my plan from training then fighting the gym leader, to only training my magikarp then fighting the gym leader. This worked splendidly and I quickly obtained the Mystery Gift by talking to the man on the 3rd floor of the TV station who is next to a blonde girl. First say "everyone" "happy" then say "wi-fi" "connection" and you have it, as soon as you save of course. It appears on the main menu (the one where you select "continue" or "new game") and allows you to download event Pokemon and items.

It really bothers me that Pokemon.com always says that you need the Pokedex to get the Item/Pokemon in question from mystery gift, because as far as I'm aware it's not even possible to get Mystery Gift without getting the Pokedex, so why don't they just say you need Mystery Gift and perhaps tell you how to get it? Unless they don't want people going to their events.

Guess I got a bit side-tracked there. I'm currently back on the path of slowly EV training. Yup, all Pokemon on my Pearl team are EV trained from the start. By the time I finish the game I'll have 32 different Pokemon to mix and match from, all EV trained with correct natures and move-sets (if I can manage it). My current goal is lvl. 20, once that is met the Pokemon in question will not be trained until all others reach that level. I also have an accidentally started theme of place names for my Pokemon on this game.

I usually think that Diamond and all my other Pokemon games hate me, seeing as Diamond even gave my Pokerus on a day I had to rush out (meaning it wasn't contagious when I returned to my game. No worries, I got it back from a friend). However, Pearl is making Diamond very jealous with all the praise it gets for giving me so many useful female Pokemon. So far my team is: Fuji the female Grotle, Italy (to be re-named Florida) the female Luxio (level 20, so not being used), Ace (to be re-named Laputa) the female Staravia, Atlantis the male Magikarp, Transylvania (didn't fit so it actually says Transylvan) the female Zubat, Oregon the female Psyduck, and Korea the male Machop. In my blog I'll call them their permanent names rather than the ones they have until they're re-named. I have a Pokerus carrying, Rock Smash wielding Bidoof, named BIDOOF, kept for utility purposes in my PC, until needed.

I'm having issues getting a geodude I like, in fact I haven't found a single Adamant geodude yet, let alone one with a desirable ability. I guess I'll get it eventually. I also got my two Deoxys, yay! As well as one for my brother since he couldn't make it to the event. I want the one on Diamond to be shiny, and the one on Pearl to be Speed Forme and good for competitions. I chose speed forme because all the other forms count as Ubers, which are generally banned in competitive play, from what I've learned. So far I've done a little SRing (soft resetting) for a shiny Deoxys, nothing was found but this is only the start. I think I'll return to getting a geodude for the moment.

Team status:
Fuji, Level 19
Laputa, Level 19
Atlantis, Level 16
Transylvania, needs EV trained
Oregon, needs EV trained
Korea, needs EV trained
Florida, met goal
